Ben Lively to Reds with Minor League deal

CINCINNATI – The Reds awarded reliever Ben Lively a minor league contract Thursday. The right will also be invited to participate in the Big Team Spring Training.

Cincinnati originally selected Lively in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. On December 31, 2014, he was traded to the Phillies in exchange for outfielder Marlon Byrd. Lively made 20 starts for Philadelphia from 2017 to 2018. His last stint in the majors was six appearances for the Royals from 2018 to 2019.

In 26 games in the Big Top, Lively is 4-10 with a 4.80 ERA.

The 29-year-old Lively pitched the past three seasons in South Korea, where he was 10-12 with a 4.14 ERA in 36 starts for the Samsung Lions.
