Baseball: Romero, Rondón and Vizcaya win awards from the LVBP

CARACAS – As happens every January, the winners of the “Los Grandes de la LVBP” awards, sponsored by Numeritos Gerencia Deportiva and Line Up International and which have the approval of the Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional (LVBP), begin to announce.

Today they were awarded: “Productor del Año”, “Set up del año” and “Cerrador del Año”. The first was won by the “pelotero” de Caribes de Anzoáteguirestean Romero with 281 points. Romero left behind Balbino Fuenmayor (262), Nellie Rodríguez (240), Ildemaro Vargas (238) and Ramón Flores (233).

It should be remembered that this special ranking is made taking into consideration the following criteria: 2 points for each partner sent for points and each point scored, one for each base reached and base on ball received. Points remain for each teammate left on base.

Magallanes celebrate the awards received by Bruce Rondón (Cerrador del Año) and Anthony Vizcaya (set up del año).

Rondón with his 36 points, obtained thanks to his 12 saves, left behind Andrés Sotillet (23), Vicente Campos (20), Henry Rodríguez (18) and Silvino Bracho (15).

Rondón is the seventh “closer” of the Navegantes who wins this award, previously it was won by: Jim Winn (1985-1986), Benito Malavé (1991-1992), John Hudek (1993-1994), Jean Machí (2009- 2010), Hassan Pena (2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017), and Pedro Rodríguez (2018-2019).

The other player of the “Turcos” to win a prize was Vizcaya who took home the Set Up del Año with 39 points. Behind him came teammate Wilking Rodríguez (37).

Vizcaya is the fourth Magallanes pitcher to win this award, previously he was won by Deolis Guerra (2014-2015), Zach Thornton (2015-2016) and José Flores (2016-2017).

Tomorrow, the “Regreso del Año” will be awarded to the Italian-Venezuelan Carlos Tocci, of the Tigres de Aragua, among the favorites for the final victory. In the running for this award are Gabriel Noriega (Magallanes) and Balbino Fuenmayor (Caribes).
