Kansas State center Ayoka Lee said she thought it would be just another Sunday. Instead, she was placed in the women’s basketball record book by scoring 61 points.
Lee scored almost as many points herself as Oklahoma as a team, with the Wildcats beating the Sooners, 94-65, at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas.

Oklahoma (16-3 overall, 5-2 in the Big 12) entered the game second in Division I with 88.3 points per game. But Kansas State’s 15-0 run early in the game, with 12 points from Lee, showed that all would be well for the Wildcats.
Lee entered Sunday tied for third in Division I with 23.6 points per game. He had 43- and 38-point games (twice) earlier this season.
“I didn’t come in expecting to break a record,” Lee said. “I believe that [fue] just sticking to our game plan, executing what we needed to execute, and our guards did amazing,” he added.
The old women’s DI record of 60 points was held by Long Beach State center Cindy Brown (set in 1987) and Minnesota shooting guard Rachel Banham (2016).
Lee is eligible for the WNBA junior draft as he played one season in the redshirt due to injury and turns 22 this calendar year.
