Australian Open > Rublev: “I was still positive for Covid when I flew to Australia”

As a controversy begins to emerge concerning the non‐compulsory tests for players, Andrey Rublev admitted in a press conference after his quiet victory against Berankis (6–4, 6–2, 6–0) that he had tested positive and was still allowed to board a flight to Australia.

“I am no longer tested now because I have just recovered from Covid. When I flew to Australia I was still positive, but the level of Covid in my body, I’m not going to lie, was very low and not dangerous. I was allowed to enter the country. Moreover, I spent more than ten days in quarantine. Maybe I’m still positive, but I’m no longer contagious and dangerous. Because I got sick, I don’t do the PCR test anymore. »
