ATP Cup tennis – Spain and Argentina start 2022 on the right foot with success, Tsitsipas takes over

The 2022 tennis season is now a reality for all. On the night of Friday to Saturday, when Australia had already switched to 2022 for many hours, Spain and Argentina launched hostilities during the ATP Cup, the event which opens the calendar of this long season. The two nations were not laughing, outclassing Chile and Georgia by the score of 3-0.

For Spain, it was Pablo Carreño Busta and Roberto Bautista who were out on the Sydney courts. Both men held their place with straight sets wins. It was mainly Bautista who impressed against Cristian Garin, swept 6-0, 6-3. Carreño Busta beat Alejandro Tabilo (6-4, 7-6). La Roja then hit the nail on the head in the double.

Argentina opened the ball against Georgia. This gave Diego Schwartzman his first big success of the season against the unpredictable Nikoloz Basilashvili. The fate of the meeting was played during the double won by the pair Nikola Cacic / Filip Krajinovic against Durasovic / Ruud (7-6, 6-3).
