The San Silvestre Cidiana wants to win the game against the coronavirus by showing that everything is possible if it is done with prudence and collaboration of the people who participate in the event. The test continues as planned in the December 31 calendar through the streets of Burgos. It will leave at 7 from Eloy García de Quevedo street, the so-called Teaching Center, where in recent years the Real de la Feria has been located in San Pedro, to end at the Avenida de los Derechos Humanos.

From the organizing club, its president José Aurelio Puras, warns that they will comply with all the measures established in the protocol for this type of tests, in the confidence that celebrating San Silvestre will be a way to celebrate Christmas in Burgos as normal. possible at the moment: “We have taken all possible measures and we are going to strictly comply with the regulations to that effect, always relying on the prudence of the participants, their individual responsibility at this time will be more important than ever so that everything goes well.”

Puras remember that the use of a mask will be required before and after the test: «It is clear that normality is achieved from the fulfillment of each one of the rules established for this purpose, it will be necessary to be with a mask before the start of the test and always looking for social distance from each other, and during the development of the test , in the first few meters it is also advisable to keep the mask that can be removed when the race has already covered a first section and it will also be easier to escape from the crowd of runners, but as soon as you reach the finish line, use the mask again it will be compulsory ».

In addition, as is logical this year there will be less participation because the pandemic also causes their reluctance: “Obviously, I believe that the number will be less than the nearly 10,000 participants in the previous edition, this can also help us to better handle the situation at the start and at the finish line.” And the organization also emphasizes that “Please, people who have not done sports in a long time, or who see that they are not in physical condition or have the slightest symptom of the flu, please do not participate, when in doubt it is better not to”.

The San Silvestre Cidiana is the most popular event of the year in the sports field of the city and that is how they want it to continue being: “Apart from the fact that federated athletes can participate, the San Silvestre is aimed at the general public, so that it is a night of fun and sports, in the healthiest possible sense, it is an event open to the entire Burgos society.”

And another important aspect in its sense of solidarity, since this year, through the sponsorship of Caixabank, which will contribute 1 euro for each number, there will be a beneficiary entity that is the Diabetic Association of Burgos, which focuses on the care of both the sick as well as their families. “For us it is another of the important elements of San Silvestre, being able to serve to improve and facilitate the work of associations that provide important services to society, we are very proud of it”, says José Aurelio Puras.
