Volterra lights up with the artist’s light ” Planetario ” by Carmelo Giammello

Volterra, the city of light and dalabaster, the first Tuscan City of Culture, will open the program of initiatives planned for 2022 with a preview: the lighting – Wednesday 8 December at 6 pm in Piazza dei Priori – of the light by the Planetary artist by Carmelo Giammello. The installation, designed ad hoc by the artist, was created in collaboration with the City of Turin and supported by Iren, sponsor of the initiative.

“Planetarium” made with spheres of various sizes and proportions illuminated and surrounded by a dust of white point lights to create a sort of Milky Way in the Tuscan city which in 2022 will become the geographical center of a laboratory of cultural innovation for the future of the inland areas of all Italy.

The initiative was presented today at Palazzo Strozzi sacrati by Elena Pianea, director of the regional heritage, institutions, cultural activities and sport sector, Giacomo Santi, mayor of Volterra, Paolo Verri, director of Volterra 22 and Eugenio Bertolini, managing director of Iren Ambiente, sponsor of the initiative.

The president of the Region Eugenio Giani, unable to attend, sent a message: “I am particularly happy to greet the start of the initiatives of the first Tuscan city of culture. The evocative preview of the artist Carmelo Giammello will lead the way in a year that promises to be full of initiatives. of great quality that will allow to give even more value to this wonderful jewel of Tuscany.

Volterra had applied for the Italian Capital of Culture with great attention and care: even if that investiture did not materialize, all that path could still be used to make 2022 a special and unique year thanks to the cultural and tourist impact that all the planned events can have. .
