VIDEO⟩ Renovated football fields – Football – have been opened at the Olympic Center in Riga

This year, the football hall hosted the games of the World Hockey Championship, so the previous football cover was removed. It has been serving youth, amateur and professional football since 2016.

The management of the Olympic Center, deciding on the demolition of the football field, bought out the previously valid agreement with the LFF on the lease of the field. A new four-year agreement was signed between the two parties in October.

Inga Zobena, the manager of SIA “Olimpiskais sporta centrs”, is pleased that every week more than 1,200 children, amateurs, enthusiasts and professionals will be able to train in comfortable conditions on the renovated 60×90 meter football field.

Two football top league teams will also complete the preparation cycle at the Rimi Olympic Sports Center.

LFF notes that the hall is equipped with a modern artificial turf that meets the requirements of the International Association of Football Federations (FIFA), which will also be maintained using rubber pellets specially designed for indoor use.

In addition to the new football cover, the infrastructure adjacent to the sports hall has also been improved, repairs have been made – the lobby, the locker room block, and common facilities have been renovated. Improved energy efficiency – zoned and adjustable LED lighting with impact-resistant lamps has been installed in the hall, as well as LED lighting with presence sensors in common areas and changing rooms.

This area is usually used for the training of youth teams and amateur tournaments of many clubs in the capital, but it also regularly trains professional teams, as well as various official and testing games for men and women.

SIA “Olimpiskais sporta centrs” belongs to the Latvian Olympic Committee. Last year, it had a turnover of 1.94 million euros and earned 15,132 euros.
