Vícar’s personal defense course for women will know its second edition

The city council of Vícar, through its Municipal Center of Information for Women (CMIM), informs that there are still places available to register in the second course on female self-defense aimed at women over 16 years of age, which will resume its sessions in January after the hiatus of the Christmas holidays. This second edition is repeated in view of the success obtained by the first and to respond to the broad citizen demand.

The mayor of Vícar, Antonio Bonilla, has highlighted the importance of this type of course, noting that “they fulfill the double objective of providing techniques and skills to women for their protection and safety, and, on the other hand, they contribute to reinforcing their self-esteem and self-confidence, by learning basic self-defense techniques “.



The course was part of the activities scheduled to commemorate 25-N (International Day against Violence against Women) and is completely free. It is going to develop in two weekly sessions, on Mondays and Wednesdays, In the afternoon, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the facilities of the Palacio de los Deportes de Vícar.

Classes will start on January 10 and will last until January 24. They will be taught, as in the first shift, by instructors from the Koudougakusya Judo Academy, with the award-winning judoka from Almería David García del Valle at the head.

Throughout the eight scheduled sessions, The participants will learn various techniques and strategies so that they can reduce a possible aggressor and flee in case of attack. This type of course is of great help for women, because it allows them to develop more confidence in themselves and their environment, and to implement strategies for the prevention and detection of dangerous situations, integrating personal safety habits into daily life and promoting self-confidence and self-esteem in order to overcome risky situations.
