Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami pays tribute to commuter Lakshya Sen

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to badminton player Lakshya Sen for his exploits at the 2021 BWF World Championships in Spain.

Handing the 20-year-old commuter a check for Rs 15 lakh on Sunday, Dhami said that by winning a medal at the international event, Sen brought laurels to the country and the state.

Sen, who won a bronze medal in the championship, is from the Almora district in Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister also honored his parents and wished Sen to win a gold medal at the upcoming badminton world championships.

He also spoke about the state government’s new sports policy which aims to give more opportunities to aspiring sportspeople to hone their skills.

A sports university is being established in the state, in addition to a women’s sports college in Udham Singh Nagar district, Dhami said.
