Tijuana hosts the Baja California Judo Cup – El Sol de Tijuana

The Baja California Judo Cup began this weekend on the tatamis of the High Performance Center (CAR) in the municipality of Tijuana.

It was this Saturday, December 11, when the competition started with approximately one hundred competitors from municipalities throughout the state and guests from Sonora clubs.

According to the Institute of Sport, this was the first post-Covid-19 event to be held with the presence of selected Baja California First Force nationals in this Japanese combat discipline, even with some who have just been in the Junior Panamerican in Cali, Colombia as is the case of Kassandra Espinoza, Omar Silva and Ángel García.

The president of the State Judo Association, Josan Fajer González explained the importance of the tournament.

“This Baja Cup is qualifying for national events and we have a very good response, almost a hundred registered from Baja California clubs, in addition 40 judocas from Sonora visit us,” he commented.

In addition, this is a tournament that serves as preparation, since many athletes have been without activity, then the championships for next year will come like the Tomoyoshi Yamaguchi that has already been organized in Tijuana on two occasions and they hope to bring it one more time.
