Three medals for the Baie-Comeau judo club in Repentigny

Members of the Baie-Comeau judo club won three medals and performed well at the Repentigny development tournament, which took place on December 4 and 5.

Samuel Roberge-Poitras and Machiel Talbot both finished third in the U16 men’s under 42 kilograms category. Roberge-Poitras had a record of one win and two losses, while Talbot had two wins and one loss.

Édouard Gendron obtained third place in the U14 men’s under 46 kg category along with Idris Iyed Bouakkaz from the Univestrie / Donini judo club in Sherbrooke. He ended the event with a record of two wins and one loss.

In the U14 category of less than 48 kg on the women’s side, Philomène Talbot finished second. She concluded the competition with two losses in as many fights. Note that there was only one other athlete in this category during the event, namely Anaïs Lefebvre from the Victoriaville judo club, with whom she has a 5 kg difference. Talbot is normally under 44 kg.

In the U18 female category over 70 kg, Émylia Paredes-Lavoie placed fourth. She left the competition with three defeats in as many fights. According to Robin Gagné, technical director of the Baie-Comeau judo club, Émylia will have to change weight category, because the athletes in the weight category in which she competes are 6 to 10 kg more than her.

Marie-Joëlle Fortin finished fifth in the U18 under 63 kg category on the women’s side with a record of one victory and three losses.

In the U21 senior female under 63 kg category, Caroline Lessard finished eighth. She ended the competition with a two-game losing record. Lessard normally competes in the master category.

Robin Gagné gives a positive feedback on the performances of the members of the club. “We did everything right. We have more experience. We have a few medals, that’s good, but we have work to do in the dojo. We will prepare, we will work properly to come back stronger. This is what is most important. The young people did very well, as usual, they did the best they could, ”he says.

Vincent Roberge-Poitras, native of Baie-Comeau and member of the Boucherville Judo Club, placed seventh in the U18 men’s under 63 kg category with a record of two wins and two losses. He also competed in the U21 senior men under 63 kg category and finished sixth with one win and two losses. Remember that he is enrolled in a sports-study program.
