Why won’t Alex Rodríguez enter the Hall of Fame in 2022?
The son of Dominicans Alex Rodríguez has a good statistical record to be considered someone who could enter as soon as his name was available, as it happens in this low season. Here are their rankings in MLB history:
- 8th in runs scored
- 4th in RBIs
- 7th in total bases
- One of three players with 2,000 runs scored and RBIs (Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron)
- World Series Champion in 2009
- 3 MVPS, 2 Gold Glove, 10 Silver Slugger and 14 All-Star
Then, What’s stopping Rodriguez from, after one of the best runs a hitter has ever had in MLB history, from entering the Hall of Fame? The same thing that has prevented other greats from entering: Substance abuse was, at one point, common in baseball at all levels. A-Rod has one of the longest penalties for that (2004 as a whole), which complicates his case.
