The official premiere of the new Alevín of the Soria Basketball Club is delayed by COVID

The Castilla y León Basketball Federation has decided to postpone the first concentration of the Men’s Minibasket Autonomous Championship, which was to be held in Burgos on January 9 and in which the recently created Alevín team of the Soria Baloncesto Club was going to be released. According to the official statement released by the Castilla y León Basketball Federation, “this difficult decision has been taken given the rise in positive cases in recent days and this FBCYL does not believe it is prudent to carry out this activity as it is a concentration competition , since this entails a great movement of athletes and families in each of the venues ”.

In the Autonomous Minibasket Championship, a competition system is established in a concentration regime, which means that all teams enter into action in a single venue – where they play a minimum of two matches – on each of the established dates. In the first of these concentrations, the Soria Basketball Club was going to face two teams from Valladolid (San José Jesuitas and Iveco Real Valladolid), and one from Burgos (Tizona 2010). His group from the first phase is completed by two other teams from Burgos (San Pablo Burgos Mini and Tizona 2011), two squads from Salamanca (Navazo Tormes A and B) and La Flecha de Arroyo de la Encomienda Basketball Club (Valladolid) .

The Soria Baloncesto Club had never had a federated team in the juvenile category, but, in view of the evolution of the group of players born in 2010 who had been working in the Infant School and at the suggestion of a parent, they chose to process their registration on last summer against the Castilla y León Basketball Federation. Nine of the twelve players that made up the Soria team that participated last October in the Castilla y León Championship of Provincial Teams are integrated into the Alevín of the Soria Basketball Club.

His coach is Gonzalo de Domingo, the Burgos resident in Soria who plays for the Transler of the Men’s First Division. Valladolid, on April 23, and Salamanca, on May 8, 2022, will be the headquarters of the second and third concentration, respectively. It remains to be determined where the final concentration will be played, originally scheduled for June 5, 2022. The other group of the first phase is made up of Caja Rural and Zamarat de Zamora, Carbajosa de Salamanca, Club Baloncesto Palencia and the Filipenses also from Palencia, and the Leonés School, the Caja Rural RDL from Villacelama and the Neumáticos Navaliegos from Ponferrada (León).

The concentration of the regional mini-basketball preselection has also been postponed

Two of the members of the youth team of the Soria Baloncesto Club, specifically Diego Valero and Víctor Chamarro, had been summoned by the Castilla y León Basketball Federation to participate in the concentration that the regional minibasket preselection was going to develop in Peñaranda de Bracamonte (Salamanca) between December 26 and 29. This concentration has also been postponed as a result of the increase in the number of positive cases in Covid-19. Rubén Sanz, coach of Cadet B and Infantil B of Club Soria Baloncesto is part of the technical staff of the Castilla y León minibasket team.
