League officials and members of the Players Association are close to agreeing to reduce the quarantine imposed on players who test positive for the coronavirus to six days, ESPN reported on Thursday. The old rule was that 10 days were needed for this.

The Silver Circuit is reportedly carrying out in-house research using infectious disease specialists. UK-based research models would also serve as benchmarks, among others.

According to the same source, this model would also be based on the one revisited by the NFL a short time ago. The relaxation of the rules of the Goodell circuit allows in particular a doubly vaccinated player without symptoms 24 hours after being tested positive for COVID-19 to return to the game. Tests on athletes who have received two doses of immunity are carried out from weekly, while for those who have not been vaccinated, examinations are carried out daily.

“This virus will never be eradicated and we will have to learn to live with it [la COVID-19], said NBA commissioner Adam Silver on Tuesday. I think that’s what we’re going through in the NBA right now. ”

With an upsurge in COVID-19 cases and the arrival of its variant Omicron, a total of nine duels have been postponed within the NBA since December 14. As for the National Hockey League, the authorities saw fit to postpone all the matches that were scheduled before December 27.
