The NBA is on alert for its own coronavirus wave. The best league in the world has a huge problem on its hands, with the virus running like wildfire through the league’s teams. Today, nearly 20 franchises have confined players.
Some as Chicago Bulls (with two games postponed), Brooklyn Nets o Sacramento Kings are having the worst luck. They have between six and seven players out, all for the NBA health and Covid protocols.
The latest data suggest that there are more than 50 players Across the league they are in isolation right now, awaiting future tests or with confirmed positive cases.
These figures scare the NBA, which nevertheless maintains its position that everything possible must be done to avoid suspension or cancellation of matches. All this, added to the fact that the Christmas day is just around the corner, raises many doubts.
The graph above shows the progression of players who have entered the Covid protocols in the league since the start of the season. Despite a bump in early November, the trend was stable. The last few weeks, however, have been crazy for the NBA.
Now, it only remains to hope that it does not go to more. With the Christmas dates falling and increased restrictions imposed for all players, the league hopes to contain this massive outbreak that is taking place in competition.
