The clubs and the Municipal Sports Board presented their awards during the Elgoibar Federated Sports Gala

Elgoibartarra sport experienced its great party yesterday with the celebration of the Federated Sports Gala, an annual meeting in which the local clubs and the Municipal Sports Board recognize the results and the work of athletes, technicians and collaborators of the different sports entities. The auditorium of the Inazio Bereziartua music school served as the setting for the gala, in which 21 awards were awarded.

The list of winners opens with Aitziber Olaizola, who received recognition from Hiru Txirlo Bola Elkartea after a great season in which she became the first woman to win the Euskal Herria Bola Hiru Txirlo Championship. Another woman, Mayi Mujika, winner of the Aduna mountain duathlon and the Madeira Sky Race won the Morkaiko Mendizale Elkartea award, while Jesús Zinkunegi received recognition from Sigmako Probalekua Elkartea for his support of the activities that this entity develops in the realm of herri kirolak. The same can be said of Josu Arrillaga, who was recognized by the Zarta archery club for his work at the club and for the third place he obtained in the Gipuzkoa de Bosque Championship.

Nere Arregui, third in the Euskadi championship and participant in the Spanish Under-16 Cross Championship, was awarded by Mintxeta Atletismo Taldea and judoka Colin Iga won the recognition of Egokran after proclaiming himself champion of Gipuzkoa in the cadet category in the category of more than 90 kilos. On the other hand, the great season that the cyclist Imanol Álvarez has completed earned him the recognition of Lagun Taldea Txirrindulari Elkartea. The gala continued with the award that Elgoibar CD granted to Josetxo Arakistain, a historic Basque football player, six-time league champion and European Cup and Cup champion defending Real Madrid’s goal. Olaizaga Kirol Taldea presented the award to karate fighter Izan Arcos, while Maite Zabala, manager and swimmer, received the award from Elgoibarko Igeriketa Taldea, Beñat Basurto, finalist in the Cadet Gipuzkoa Championship, Lagunak Pilota Eskola’s, and Iban Bello, runner-up of the Gipuzkoa Small Game Hunting with Dog Championship, La Unión.

Jone Valmaseda won the 40 X 15 Tennis Elkartea award for his involvement with the club since 2009 and his commitment to promoting paddle tennis in the town, Juanma López, a close collaborator of Sanlo, the handball club, and Santi Fernández, player and manager, that of the Zubi-Ondo chess club. The Urbizi underwater activities club awarded Joseba Narbaiza, diver and practitioner of underwater photography, the Urnobitza Kirol Kluba motor club awarded Ekaitz Atxa for the work and enthusiasm he displays in the club, and Alex Aranzabal, former player and basketball promoter in Elgoibar since the founding of the club, he won the Elgoibar ST award

Sports Board

The Municipal Sports Board awarded three prizes to other local athletes. The first was for Markel Kerexeta who, overcoming the obstacles that life has imposed on him, has played football, chess and competes at the national level in rugby with wheels with the Basatiak team from Vitoria-Gasteiz.

The second went to Gorane Ayesta, a player on the Bera Bera rugby team, with whom he has won the Basque League, and the third went to Igor Elizburu, who having to function in a wheelchair has not prevented him from practicing sports such as skiing or swimming and participating in the Behobia-San Sebastián handbike modality.
