The European elite in Aire-sur-la-Lys in 2023

The French Badminton Federation has been selected by Badminton Europe to host the 2023 European Mixed Team Championships. The competition will take place near Pas-de-Calais, more precisely in Aire-sur-la-Lys.

The best of European badminton returns to France in 2023. More precisely from February 14 to 18, with the organization of the European mixed team championships. After Liévin in 2020, heading north once again with the selection of the Volant Airois, labeled “Club Avenir”, as the organizer of the competition. Used to organizing large-scale events, in particular the European qualifying phases (2015 and 2018), the club will rely on its know-how and especially on the regional sports complex, a specific room dedicated to badminton, revamped for the occasion.

A pride for the Pas-de-Calais

“After the European Men’s and Women’s Team Championships in 2020, France is happy to see a new European competition taking place on its territory”, rejoices Yohan Penel, president of the FFBad. “With an ambitious project and a team of committed volunteers, the Volant Airois will undoubtedly make these European mixed team championships a success in the service of badminton, Pas-de-Calais and Hauts-de -France. It is a long tradition of hosting international competitions that continues and we thank the various players who are involved. “

A reward for an entire club

If the pride of the FFBad is obvious, that of the organizing club is also. “It is with great pleasure and emotion that we learn of the decision to award the 2023 European Mixed Team Championships (EMTC) to France and Aire-sur-la-Lys”, says Frédéric Ducrot, president of Volant Airois. “Hosting such a benchmark European competition is a great challenge for the federation (FFBaD) and the Volant Airois club (LVA). After several organization of the qualifying phases, it is now an extraordinary moment to organize the final phase which will see the eight best teams in Europe face off against each other. “
