Starligue: a formality for PSG handball against Nancy this Sunday?

In the days and hours to come, PSG will play an essential match. But it is not that of this Sunday. It will take place on Thursday in the Champions League with the reception of the European champion, FC Barcelona. But in the meantime, we have to play in the Starligue.

And we do not take much risk by thinking that PSG will not suffer its first defeat in Starligue, the French D1 Championship, this Sunday. The series of 11 matches, 11 victories for the reigning French champions should continue. The PSG receives Nancy at 5 pm in its lair of Coubertin (Paris, XVIth). Nancy is the team ranked last in the standings with only 2 wins in 11 games. It seems impossible that the Lorrainers win a third in the capital.

Nancy is a stranger in the house because the Lorrainers have never come to Coubertin in the league. The promoted won his two matches in Toulouse, (22-24) and against Cesson-Rennes, (27-25). Founded in 1942, the Nancy club played for the first time in the Elite. The men of the former coach of Massy Benjamin Braux won their ticket after a semi-final of the playoffs against Pontault-Combault (25-26).

If this is the first time that the two teams face each other in the league, it is not unprecedented in the Cup. This was the case in December 2015, when Paris won in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France (23-36). This was also the case two years later, during the same round of the same competition, with a new victory (27-39). This poster remains a rarity until now, however.

To be honest, the suspense of this match mainly concerns the gap that there will be in the end between the two teams. On the one hand, there is the best attack in the championship. PSG have already scored 409 goals in 11 games, for an impressive average of… 37 goals per game. Conversely, Nancy with 294 goals scored (26 per game) has the worst. If we are to believe the statistics, the gap should therefore be around 10 goals in favor of Paris. Fortunately, sport is not always all about statistics.
