Spain, at the forefront in the organization of international tournaments in Europe

With the end of the season, Spain is at the forefront of Europe as the country that has organized the most international tournaments of the professional tennis spectrum throughout the year, and in second position worldwide, behind the United States, reported the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET).

Spain organized a total of 68 professional international tournaments, beating other European nations such as France (65), Italy (49), Great Britain (9) or Germany (31). The United States, the only nation that surpasses Spain worldwide, a leader in this regard, organized 91 tournaments.

The president of the RFET, Miguel DiazHe assured that this “is the most important achievement of all those achieved”.

“Creating a world-leading tournament pyramid on a budget as tight as ours is a milestone,” he said.

“We are above countries like France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain or Australia that have either large tournaments owned by the federations or directly Grand Slams that provide them with a lot of income,” he added.

In addition, the president revealed that next year two new tournaments will be held in Spain: “Our intention is to continue growing and to bet on having an ATP or a WTA in property to be able to close the competitive circle. And we can also anticipate that next year We will have two new ATP Challengers – we will reach 13 – that will be added to the seven ITF WTT women, of which two will be for 100,000 dollars, and one for 125,000 “.

Regarding the organization of ‘junior’ category tournaments, however, Spain is the solo leader in the world with 41 competitions, above Germany (29), France (25) and Italy (15).

In the same way, in veterans events, Spain is the highest organizer with 53 events, while the United States, the second highest organizer in this category, is left with 36.
