Sofía Mamani won the gold medal at the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games

Sofia Mamani Arizapana, a natural athlete from Puno and daughter of the athletes Wilma Arizapana and Miguel Mamani, won the gold medal for Peru in the 10,000 meters in the I Junior Pan American Games Cali – Valle 2021.

Sofia with the first place and the gold medal has classified directly to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games because this event classified the champions in the individual events. Our athlete for the first place and the gold medal made a time of 34 minutes 43 seconds and 80 hundredths.

Peruvian Olympic Committee (COP), led by Renzo Manyari Velazco, along with his board of directors, applauds the effort of the athlete who achieves the first gold medal in these Youth Games in the Americas.

The national triumph happened on the athletic track of the Pascual Guerrero Stadium in Cali. The second place and silver medal went to María de Jesús Ruíz Acuña from Mexico and the third place and bronze medal went to Maria Lucineida Da Silva Moreira from Brazil.
