“So you socialize and become good citizens”

The University Sports Center of Venice on Monday took stock of the activities carried out during the academic year 2021/22, with an overview of next year’s program, during a meeting in the Aula Magna Iuav – Tolentini. Its president Massimo Zanotto took stock of the last few months, including social, sporting activities and events organized by CUS Venezia.
There are many social activities already included in the calendar for next year, as Massimo Zanotto illustrated during the meeting: to name a few, the “MOVA – Moving towards an active life” project, an initiative of CUS Venice in collaboration with the Municipality to promote an active lifestyle among the over 70 population of the Venetian historic center and the islands, created with the contribution of PON Metro funds. The ‘We are sport’ project aimed at people with mental disabilities is also going ahead. In addition, various environmental education projects are scheduled.

Among the sporting activities, however, the university ski championships in Val Zoldana will be held in March, as well as athletics, judo, handball and volleyball projects. The CUS Venezia also has plans for the improvement of some sports facilities, which will be implemented in collaboration with the Municipality.
At the appointment, among others, the deputy mayor of Venice with responsibility for sport Andrea Tomaello.
“I am pleased to retrace the activities that we have promoted together, with the Municipality, to encourage the restart of sport and associations. On the part of the CUS there has always been extensive collaboration and support. I have to say thank you, it was not easy to organize. From the administration and the mayor there is maximum support for activities related to the university and to promote Venice as a university city “.

“In this era of post-Covid economic recovery, it is important to offer grants and incentives for students’ residency but also to offer them extra-study activities. Thanks to these sports associations, such as the CUS, which allow them to socialize and even become good citizens with the help of educational campaigns. I hope it will be an equally profitable 2022 in terms of sporting activity ”concluded the commissioner.

The evening was also an opportunity to award some awards. For example, the ‘Sport is culture’ award and those for the Universities’ International Rowing Challenge. In addition, the scholarships “Good at studying, good at sport” and some certificates of participation in training courses were awarded.
