The meeting room of the Pala Giannelli, kindly granted by the Polisportiva Mens Sana, hosted, on Friday afternoon, the ordinary assembly of the Siena Baseball Club, which renewed its corporate offices. The outgoing President Irene Bonazzola he gave the introductory report, dealing with the various issues of the first year of life of the new Sienese baseball club and announced the unavailability, due to personal commitments, to re-submit his candidacy to lead the Sienese baseball association.
In his speech, Bonazzola took stock of the activities of the season just ended. “2021 was a very important year for us – explained the outgoing President – because, despite the health emergency, we decided, in January, to affiliate this new reality, founded at the beginning of December 2020, and to enroll two teams in the championships, Serie C and the Under 12, which was unthinkable at the beginning. We then obtained, from the municipal administration, the management of the Petriccio sports facility, which has now become the reference point for youth baseball ”.
For the first year of activity, the Siena Baseball Club has certainly not skimped on the quality of its technical staff, calling in the City of the Palio Jesus Barroso, a Cuban coach who in the past had already spent four years at Monteriggioni and who led the South African team at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, then playing the role of “number two” of the Cuban coaches until two years ago. In the coming months, three other technicians, currently in training (the Serie A softball player Gaia Welcome, Italo – Dominican Jose Alberto Sanchez, former Juventus C player and founder of Siena BC, and Bonazzola herself).
Speaking of the first team, the President expressed her regret for not being able to achieve more prestigious results, with Estra Siena BC finishing fourth in their group.
The success achieved by the summer camps, organized from June to September at the school camp and included in the “EduCamp CONI” circuit, was great, for which the Juventus club was identified as the manager of the Municipality of Siena.
Thanks to the commitment of the municipal administration and in particular of the Councilor for Sport Paolo Benini, the Sarajevo Children’s Park facility will soon be completely renovated.

At the end of the report of the outgoing President, the founding partner Antonio Rodriguez, last year manager of the Under 12, proposed as new President Francesco Giusti, elected unanimously by the numerous members present.
Per Giusti, born in 1979, former player of Mens Sana Baseball, Arezzo, Cosmos and Monteriggioni, winner as manager of the first regional title of a Sienese youth training (in 2014 the Allievi del Monteriggioni), graduate in Motor Sciences and Director coach of the Siena Baseball Club, is the first experience as the top manager of a baseball club in our territory, despite having been the main architect of the last three experiences of the batti e corri nostrano (1996 Mens Sana Baseball, 2007 Monteriggioni, 2020 Siena BC ).
