Serge Davy hands over the reins to Jean-Luc Frezier

The General Assembly of the departmental riding committee went perfectly on Thursday, December 16, in the framework of the Passage-d’Agen cultural center.

Absent due to convalescence, the emblematic president of the departmental committee for decades, Serge Davy, nevertheless marked this GA through his moral report, without complacency, read by Sandrine Viannay (Les Écuries de Saint-Damien). The list led by Jean-Luc Frezier who won a large majority of the votes will therefore be in charge of the policy of the departmental committee for the coming years.

From the moral report of the “captain”, it will be remembered that for the first time in a very long time, departmental horsemanship greatly exceeds the mark of 3,000 licensees to settle at 3,845 practitioners in 89 equestrian centers. A reduced price license operation may have favored this growth. The major advertising campaign launched by the French Equestrian Federation is certainly not unrelated to this renewal of horse riding in the department.

Despite the health constraints, a significant number of competitions were organized. Serge Davy regretting, however, the lack of harmonization of the calendar (several competitions being held on the same weekend) but especially the level of the riders of the department, in particular in show jumping, considered “really very low”. “To see riders who have not crossed new gallops in two years is a little frustrating”, noted the one who becomes the honorary president of the departmental committee.

The new president, for his part, insisting on the need to strengthen cohesion between the clubs of the department and to improve communication around equestrian disciplines.

The General Assembly was to end with the presentation of 10 trophies to young riders who shone beyond the departmental level. Among these ten recipients, we note the presence of five fans of archery on horseback and three of endurance who shone at the highest national and world level.
