Sam Highfill erhält Preseason All-America Honors von Collegiate Baseball

TUCSON, Arizona – NC State Baseballkrug Sam Highfill was named a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball on Tuesday when he ended up on the publication’s second team.

The honor comes after a stellar season on the hill in 2021 in which he made 16 starts and led the Wolfpack pitching team with an average of 3.66 earned runs and a 9-2 record, while in 93, 1 innings scored 84 strikeouts.

In his last 10 starts of the season, the result was a win for the pack, as he completed at least five innings in nine of these appearances. In addition, he finished the year with five straight wins, giving up just six earned runs in 31.1 innings.

Highfill dominated the NCAA tournament, helping the pack reach the College World Series for the third time in program history and for the first time since 2013. He threw 5.1 shutout innings against Louisiana Tech in the NCAA Ruston Regional and then threw 6.1 innings to win the win against the top seeded Arkansas in the NCAA Super Regional in Fayetteville, Ark.

In Omaha, he hit a shutout with two hits in a career-long 7.1 innings, then went down 3 for 4 in the infamous # Pack13 game against 2019 national champions Vanderbilt.

After his season with Wolfpack, he played for the Collegiate National Team of USA baseball that summer.
