Rossoneri fall at San Siro

AC Milan away from the top of the Italian League standings. It happened after the Rossoneri fell 0-1 to Napoli.

AC Milan vs Napoli took place at the San Siro, Monday (20/12/2021) early morning WIB. The Rossoneri had to give up after being conceded by Eljif Elmas.

Milan actually had scored a goal at the end of the match. The referee annulled Franck Kessie’s goal after reviewing it via VAR.

This defeat made Milan slump to the third position of the Italian League standings with 39 points, four points behind Inter Milan at the top. Napoli are in second place with the same points, but winning on goal difference.

The course of the match

Napoli got a quick goal in the fifth minute. Eljif Elmas’ header from a corner kick successfully tore Mike Maignan’s goal.

Partenopie did not relax the pressure despite leading 1-0. Milan’s defense was again threatened in the eighth minute from a corner clash, through Amir Rrahmani’s header and André-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s shot.

Milan just threatened after the game has been running for more than 15 minutes. Zlatan Ibrahimovic twice tried to rip through the Napoli goal with headers, but he failed to get the ball into the net from a corner.

Napoli again began to press Milan in the final five minutes before halftime. There were four attempts from Luciano Spalletti’s team, but none of them resulted in a goal.

Milan started the second half quite well. The Rossoneri’s first shot on goal came through Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 48th minute and a minute later from Junior Messias’ long-range shot, but neither of them had scored.

Napoli turn to threaten in the 51st minute. Amir Rrahmani successfully received a corner kick, but it didn’t end with a goal because the ball could still be secured by Maignan.

Until the game has been running for an hour, Milan still looks lost in search of an equalizing goal. All the efforts of Stefano Pioli’s troops never yielded a goal.

Ibrahimovic failed to take advantage of a poor Napoli clearance in the 84th minute. When the ball fell at his feet, Ibra even failed to control the ball well even though the distance to the goal was very close.

Milan had scored in the 90th minute through Franck Kessie, who took advantage of the chaos in the Napoli penalty box. VAR then annulled the goal because it smelled of offside.

Milan was not able to score in the remaining time is narrow. As a result, Napoli came out as the winner.
