Ross Brawn can miss current Formula 1 cars as a toothache: “Too difficult if you want to overtake”

In Abu Dhabi, the men’s drivers drove the cars for the last time according to the legislation of the current regulation package. From the 2022 season, new rules will apply and the public will have to get used to the brand new cars again. In Silverstone, the world probably got to see a sneak peak, but that doesn’t say much.

It is therefore expected that everything will be different in the upcoming season. Not only will the cars look different, the ranking will also change a lot. After all, there is a good chance that some teams have found a clever trick that gives them an advantage. Some teams have already given less attention to their 2021 car to focus on the coming year.

Ultimate cars

Formula 1 leader Ross Brawn is in any case not sad about the departure of the current cars. F1 TV’s Tech Talk discusses whether the 2021 cars were the ultimate cars. Brawn is quite clear: “I think it depends on what you think is the ultimate Formula 1 car. If it’s the fastest then yes. If it’s the best race car I say no. I think these cars are way too much. difficult if you want to overtake.”

Great machines

Brawn is very much looking forward to the new cars and can therefore miss the 2021 race cars like a toothache. He clarifies his opinion: “They are way too sensitive when they hit a curb. For example, if a part falls off, they stop working. They are great machines, I mean the complexity is beautiful.”
