Rapid flop among the best scorer in Europe – football

Veton Berisha could not convince at SK Rapid, became a losing business. Now he is fourth in the race for the Golden Shoe.

In Hütteldorf, Veton Berisha did not leave a lasting impression. The Norwegian came to Rapid in 2017, scored only nine goals in 58 matches, and moved back to Brann Bergen two years later.

The Viennese made a loss of around 700,000 euros with the now 27-year-old.

All the more astonishing that the name Veton Berisha can now only be found one line below Robert Lewandowski in the race for the top scorer in Europe. The Bayern star is in third place in the Golder Schuh ranking and has scored 19 goals for Bayern in the season so far.

Berisha has 22 goals in 30 games. Because the Bundesliga, as one of the top 5 leagues, has a higher coefficient (2) than the Norwegian league, where Berisha is now storming for Stavanger (1.5), the Pole is ahead.

Behind the ex-Rapidler are resounding names like Patrick Schick from Leverkusen (star striker of the Czechs at the EURO), Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina, Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, Mohammed Salah from Liverpool.

This is impressive. However, to be fair, it has to be mentioned that in Norway the season is played after the calendar year. The game time has already ended. So Berisha had significantly more games available than Lewandowski, Salah and Co., who can still hunt for goals until the summer.

There are currently two strikers from the Norwegian league in first and second place in the ranking. Ohi Omouijuanfo (Molde) leads with 27 goals ahead of Thomas Lehne Olsen (Lilleström) with 26 goals.

So the comparison is lagging. Nevertheless, Berisha is currently one of Norway’s most dangerous attackers in much better shape than when he was in the Bundesliga.
