Manchester United beat Crystal Palace by the smallest margin. Christian Benteke’s team held out for a long time against an enthusiastic home team. Fred provided the redeeming goal deep in the second half and a pleasant debut for his new trainer.

Under new coach Ralf Rangnick, the home team showed great enthusiasm against Crystal Palace. A siege to Guaita’s target followed in the opening minutes. That did not result in great opportunities.
In the second half the tank at United ran out a bit. Benteke and co fought in the match and were the most dangerous team on stationary phases. Ayew had the best chance of the match, but missed incomprehensibly in front of the goal mouth.
The proverbial lid on the nose? That was not long in coming.
On the other side Fred found space. The Brazilian did not hesitate and pulled the trigger. Goalkeeper Guaita had no chance, Fred entertained the audience with a dance.
Ralf Rangnick makes his debut as a German – unlike Klopp and Tüchel – with a victory in the Premier League. The gene printing? The United coach still has to work on that.
