Persija Jakarta Wins by a landslide, Angelo Alessio gets angry

Persija Jakarta won a landslide victory of three goals without reply, over PSM Makassar, in the 2021/22 League 1 continuation week, at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, Tuesday (7/12) night WIB. This victory is very important for Persija, because it continues the winning momentum from the previous match.

The victory achieved by the capital city team was also very convincing, with the team’s game looking so good throughout the second half. The goal parade from Persija was just born in the second half, scored by Marko Simic (56′), Osvaldo Haay in the 64th minute, and Braif Fatari at the end of the match.

Angelo Alessio was happy with the win, and appreciated how his team were able to bounce back in the second half. The Italian coach admitted that he was annoyed to see Persija’s game throughout the second half, but fortunately everything changed in the second half.

“We deserved to win this game. But in the first half I was very angry because the players played ineffectively. I was angry in the dressing room because I saw players following the tempo of the opponent’s game, even though we had a big chance to win the game,” he said.

Alessio is often angry with Persija players, if they appear sluggish or do not meet expectations. The instructions given by former assistant coach Antonio Conte were also clear, that he wanted the players to be able to move faster throughout the second half, so that the opponent was pressured.

“I instructed the players to play faster than the first half, play one or two passes and press PSM’s defence. I thought in the second half the players played really well. Their performance as individuals and as a team has been very good. I’m very happy, in the end we got a good result, 3-0.”

This is the first time Persija have won two matches in a row. Previously they were able to beat TIRA Persikabo, 1-0. This victory has made Alessio confident, and feels Persija is ready to return to competing in the top flight.

“It’s the first time we’ve won 3-0, we played well, I think we’re on the right track. However, of course we have to improve our game every game. I am very satisfied with this win,” he concluded.
