NBA News: Los Angeles Lakers apparently “very active” in the trade market: two stars in sight?

The Los Angeles Lakers are, according to Shams Charania (The Athletic) “very active” in the trade market and apparently targeted two stars.

“The team doesn’t look like it has the fresh legs it needs and is therefore very active in the trade market,” Charania said in the Pat McAfee Show.

According to the insider, her preferred candidates are Jerami Grant (Detroit Pistons) and Ben Simmons (Philadelphia 76ers). “Ben Simmons and Jerami Grant are two players they’d love to get their hands on,” he said.

The speculation that LeBron James was engaged in a trade, however, he referred to the land of fairy tales. “I spoke directly to James’ agent, Rich Paul, and he said LeBron won’t leave the Lakers. The talks about it are just ridiculous,” said Charania.

Grant has been his team’s top scorer since joining the Pistons for the 2020/21 season (20.1 points per game this season), but recently suffered a thumb injury and is indefinitely out. Simmons has not played a second for the Sixers this season after falling out with the team in the offseason.

The Lakers revealed many problems at the start of the season, are currently only sixth in the West with a balanced record (16-16) and also have to do without Anthony Davis for a longer period of time.
