The Boston Celtics have conceded the next bankruptcy against the Clippers – and experienced a horror evening from a distance. Trae Young is upset after another Hawks defeat, the Knicks Bank saves disastrous starters again.
Detroit Pistons (5-28) – New York Knicks (17-18) 85:94 (BOXSCORE)
- Disastrous starters, strong bank – the game against the Pistons was a reflection of the Knicks season so far and gave us a memorable box score. Each starter of the guests had a plus / minus of -17 or worse, each bank player, on the other hand, was +27 or better. Ultimately, Alec Burks saved the Knicks from embarrassment in Detroit.
- The Pistons, with only four players from the normal 15-man squad, sniffed the surprise in the third quarter. This section went to Detroit at 30:16, the Pistons lead increased to 14 points. Saddiq Bey with a career record (32, 9/19 FG) and Hamidou Diallp (31, 13/19 FG and 13 rebounds) almost always had their fingers in the game.
- For long stretches of the third round, the Knicks starters were on the floor, but they weren’t allowed to run at all in the final section. Instead, Burks was definitely hot, his 19 points in this round alone (4/5 threes) spurred the guests after the bank had already shortened towards the end of the third quarter. Detroit had nothing to counter the Knicks reservists (65: 7 bank points in total).
- Burks set his career high with a total of 34 points (12/17 FG) from the bank, and Immanuel Quickley, who came up with a spinning letter on his jersey, also delivered good scoring (18). The starters around Julius Randle (5, 2/11 FG), Kemba Walker (2, 1/5 FG) or RJ Barrett (15, 5/12 FG) remained completely pale and can thank the bank for the victory.
- Corona-Protokoll: Cade Cunningham, Killian Hayes, Josh Jackson, Cory Joseph, Saben Lee, Trey Lyles, Rodney McGruder, Isaiah Stewart (alle Pistons) – Nerlens Noel, Wayne Selden, Jericho Sims (alle Knicks).
Indiana Pacers (14-21) – Charlotte Hornets (19-17) 108:116 (BOXSCORE)
- LaMelo Ball delivered the highlights, Terry Rozier kept the Pacers at a distance in the closing stages and Charlotte celebrated the third win in a row. In addition to Rozier’s 35 points, a really good start was crucial.
- Or from the Pacers’ point of view, the sleepy beginning, which head coach Rick Carlisle had to criticize once again. “The first half was pretty bad,” said Carlisle, summarizing the first 24 minutes, in which Charlotte separated by 18 points. After all, the Pacers showed their morale, little by little the home side fought their way back after the break and even reduced it several times to -4 in the final section.
- But then mostly Rozier was there, who destroyed the comeback hopes of the opponents with several clutch buckets and a total of 13 points in the fourth quarter. His 35 points at the end were a season high, he sank 5/9 threes and filled the box score in other ways (7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks).
- Ball, who scratched a triple-double (21, 12 and 9), provided support from the Hornets Defense jumbled up with spin moves or tolle Assists played. Gordon Hayward also got 18 points. The best man in the Pacers was Caris LeVert with 27 points, Domantas Sabonis played 15, 18 boards and 7 assists, Myles Turner came up with 14 and 4 blocks. As a team, Indiana only hit 42 percent from the field.
- Corona-Protokoll: Miles Bridges, Scottie Lewis, P.J. Washington (alle Hornets).
Boston Celtics (16-19) – L.A. Clippers (18-17) 82:91 (BOXSCORE)
- Horror evening for the Celtics! From downtown, absolutely nothing came together for the weakened hosts, a rate of 4/42 threes (9.5 percent) illustrates this quite well. It was only the third time in NBA history that a team had pulled the trigger at least 40 times from a distance and had fewer than five hits. It is indicative of the current Celtics season that it wasn’t even the weakest three-way quota of the season (7.7 percent against Washington in October).
- Despite the catastrophic shoot, the Celts were not completely without a chance against also decimated Clippers, who were missing Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Reggie Jackson. In fact, Boston went ahead with eight minutes to go before Eric Bledsoe and Marcus Morris responded – and Boston missed a good chance after the next from the triple country. The last 15 triple attempts of the game failed.
- Things went better at Bledsoe, who sank an important triple to 8-point lead two minutes before the end. The preliminary decision. He scored 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, Terance Mann and Luke Kennard also contributed 17 points. Morris led his team with 23 and 10 rebounds.
- In the case of the Celts, Jaylen Brown ultimately struggled unsuccessfully against the third bankruptcy in a row. He put on 30 points at 13/36 from the field and 1/13 from a distance. In his 36 throw attempts he remained without assists, nothing similar has happened since 1998. However, this was not necessarily due to Brown, the teammates just barely hit anything. Robert Williams (16 and 14 rebounds) was the only other Celt with double-digit points.
- Corona-Protokoll: Bruno Fernando, Enes Freedom, C.J. Miles, Aaron Nesmith, Dennis Schröder, Jayson Tatum (alle Celtics) – Brandon Boston Jr., Jay Scrubb, Moses Wright (alle Clippers).
