Austin Rivers, 29, freaked out in the final quarter of the Denver bankruptcy in Oklahoma City. After a successful 3-point throw, he grabbed the referee and asked him to immediately throw two fans out of the hall.
What happened?
The video of the game shows that Rivers was pissed off – and pointed to the fans who are said to have scolded his father, NBA legend Doc Rivers, in the middle of his throwing attempt.
After the game, Rivers explained the incident, saying every time he walked across the field, the two of them blasphemed Doc and his sister Callie Rivers.
“I don’t mind most evenings,” said Austin, who is clearly annoyed. “But it was ongoing. Every time they said something about my father. Somebody said something about my sister. So I said to myself: ‘Okay, that’s enough.’ “
Rivers continued: “You can say that I suck, that’s fine. But are you talking about my family? What are we doing here? Imagine showing up where they work and talking about their family all the time while they are trying to work. I do not know either. It’s just weird, man. A bunch of punks. “
It wasn’t the first time NBA stars had spectators kicked out of the hall. This season happened at the request of Tristan Thompson (30) and mega-star LeBron James (36).
