Manu Ginobili, Tom Chambers and Lindsay Whalen are nominated for the Hall of Fame for the first time

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts — Manu Ginobili, the former San Antonio Spurs star, tops the list of basketball players nominated for the first time to the Hall of Fame.

Other players listed for the first time include Tom Chambers, forward for the SuperSonics and Suns, as well as Lindsay Whalen, who was an Olympic and WNBA champion.

Among the nominees who appear again and who were announced this Tuesday are Chauncey Billups, the Most Valuable Player of the NBA Finals in 2004, as well as Swin Cash, prominent member of the University of Connecticut and Detroit Shock.

More than 150 players, coaches and others who contributed to the sport will be considered for possible induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and Museum during ceremonies on September 9 and 10.

The full generation of 2022 will be announced in April during the NCAA semifinal phase, which will take place in New Orleans.
