Decided to leave school to create a badminton brother
Yan Suai remembered that Luo Jianyou was very naughty when she was a child. She smiled and said, “Every time he asks him to do something, he always tells you a lot of things, and then waits for you to forget what you have entrusted. So brothers I always say that I am too indulgent to the youngest, saying that they are the only ones who do things, and my younger brothers don’t have to.”
She said with emotion: “We are really lucky. The children are well-behaved, very self-disciplined, and very obedient.”
The most shocking decision Luo Jianyou has ever made was that after he graduated from the sports school, when he was studying at the Republican Institute of Technology, he suddenly decided to suspend school because he wanted to focus on playing badminton.
She said: “We were surprised at first, but after listening to his explanation, we knew that he had grown up and believed that he could do it. He not only knew what he wanted to do, but he was also very self-disciplined, so we all supported his decision.”
Challenge the Olympics, parents are very proud
Because of this decision, Luo Jianyou gradually made his mark in the badminton world.
At the age of 21, after completing his national service, he won the Chinese star Lin Dan in the final of the 2019 Thailand Badminton Masters and became famous in one fell swoop. In July of this year, he made his debut on the Olympic stage.
Yan Suai revealed: “He has always been looking forward to participating in the Olympics, so when he qualified for the Olympics, we were all proud of him.”
Although Luo Jianyou missed the medal at the Olympics, he frequently defeated world-class players in international badminton events and eventually won the men’s singles championship of the World Badminton Championships.
“We are all very proud of him, and all achievements are attributed to him.”
Luo Jianyou’s parents have not seen him for two years because of the COVID-19 outbreak. They all looked forward to reuniting with their son and said that even their neighbors would love to see the new world champion.
Yan Suai said happily: “The neighbors are very happy for him and proud of him. Everyone said that they want him to sign their shirts and bags.”
