Lothar Zerull celebrates 90th birthday

The 7th dan holder started judo training at SV Blau-Gelb Darmstadt in 1965. In 1973 he passed his 1st Dan exam. A year later he became a regional referee, in 1984 federal A referee. From 1985 to 1993 he was a referee assistant in the Hessian Judo Association (HJV).

At the major judo events in Germany in the 1980s and 1990s, he was a member of the organizing committee, for example at the 1987 World Championships in Essen, 1990 at the European Championships in Frankfurt (Main) and at the European Team Championships in 1993 in Frankfurt (Main ).

From 1993 to 2001 he was President of the HJV. Since 2001 he has been honorary president of the regional association. For more than 20 years he worked as a sports representative of the working group of postal sports clubs in Hessen and from 1994 to 2000 as a federal representative.
