Los Angeles Lakers to sign Isaiah Thomas

Isaiah Thomas is about to make his comeback in the NBA. The point guard will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers for ten days after recommending himself in the G-League.

This is reported by Shams Charania The Athletic. Accordingly, Thomas will soon sign a ten-day contract with the Lakers. The champion of 2020 has occupied the full 15 squad positions, but uses the “Hardship Exemption” for the signature of IT.

This is a temporary roster spot for teams that have to complain about the loss of at least four players for at least two weeks. This is currently the case with the Lakers, as Kendrick Nunn and Trevor Ariza are still injured and after their appearance at the Dallas Mavericks there are five players in the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocol (Talen Horton-Tucker, Dwight Howard, Malik Monk, Russell Westbrook, Avery Bradley).

For Thomas it is the second engagement with the Lakers, already in the 2017/18 season the Guard played 17 games for the Californians. In the NBA, IT last played last year for the New Orleans Pelicans, in which he played 7.7 points and 1.7 assists in 3 games at 33.3 percent from the field.

On Wednesday, Thomas had 42 points in the G-League for the Grand Rapids Gold, the Denver Nuggets farm team. Prior to his many injuries, particularly to his hip, Thomas had his best time with the Boston Celtics when he was All-Star twice and also received MVP votes in the 2016-17 season. At that time the “King of the Fourth” put on an average of almost 29 points and 6 assists.
