KV Oostende still had a bone to pick with KV Kortrijk. On a visit to the South-West Flemish, they lost 1-0 in both the first round and the cup. KVO and coach Blessin tried it in an experimental 4-2-3-1, with D’Haese as left back and Ndicka a row higher, while Belhocine counted on the same guys who put OHL over the knee. In a very boring first half, only a combination of Amade-Gueye and a deflected shot by Dewaele managed to cause a stir. Until Selemani gave up with a heel for D’Haene and the captain graced his 200th match for KVK with a corner kick.
After the break, KVO reacted immediately: Jäkel with a good grin, a fine shot from D’Haese stroked the post. Exactly Kevin Vandendriessche – who played 216 matches for KVO, but did not receive a reasonable contract extension last season – deviated the 0-2 in goal with a nice cat’s foot. It even earned applause from the home crowd. The excellent Kortrijkzaan organization was no longer embarrassed, the Veekaa is so cozy in the top-8. KVO will go to Beerschot on Saturday for a relegation cracker.
