Kristoffersen does not fully believe the Jansrud rumors:

Last week, Kjetil Jansrud (36) fell badly in Beaver Creek. On Wednesday, the Norwegian Ski Association confirmed in a press release that the injury he sustained during the fall means that he is finished for the season.

Jansrud injured the cruciate ligament in his knee.

– The season is over for me, but I am motivated to do the job needed to come back, Jansrud said.

– Jansrud has smoked the cruciate ligament before, and returned. But first I have to say that it’s weird that someone snorts and injures themselves, it’s something you never want to see. I wish him all the best, says Kristoffersen at a Team press conference on Thursday.

Kristoffersen does not think Kjetil Jansrud will retire, and will take another season in the alpine circus next year.

– He has returned from injury before and proved that he can do it. Now he is older than at the previous time, but there are things he has to answer for himself. I do not think Kjetil has problems with motivation in that sense, Kristoffersen thinks.

– I know there have been rumors that this could be Kjetil Jansrud’s last season and such, but he probably has to answer that more than me, he emphasizes.

Great inspiration

Kristoffersen says that Kjetil Jansrud has been a great inspiration for him in his alpine career so far.

– When I came in, Kjetil did a lot of giant slalom, and we have trained a lot of giant slalom together. When he was younger, he was good at downhill skiing too. It was a bit first when I joined the national team that Kjetil switched to speed, says Kristoffersen, and adds:

– For many, it was good to have Kjetil and Aksel there. Kjetil and Aksel were the big two, but unfortunately time does not stop, and everyone gets older. It comes to a point where everyone is going to give us a day. But it does not look like, for example, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde suffers from being 30 years old. Many of those who were younger when Kjetil and Aksel Lund Svindal were there, have gained more experience now. In any case, the future looks very bright, Kristoffersen believes.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is proof that an injury does not put an end to his alpine career. He won both the Super-G race and downhill in Beaver Creek last weekend. It was his first victory since injuring his cruciate ligament in January.

– This one was wild. Is it possible? I was a little burnt out from yesterday, but it just felt so good when I drove. This was for Kjetil to put it that way, Kilde told Viaplay after the victory.

Hell in the accident for Kristoffersen: – Got a little round around the stomach

– Absolutely nonsense

Lucas Braathen almost loses his breath from Aamodt Kilde’s performance.

– It’s not really going to work. It should not be possible in race three or four after such an injury. It’s completely nonsense. It’s pretty fat, and what he did was completely wild. It shows that you can never have too big dreams, says Braathen.

He thinks it’s sad that Jansrud will not be seen in the alpine circus for the rest of the season.

– Kjetil is our leader. When something needs to be fixed, or something changed, it is very often Kjetil who fixes. Both personally and on an extravagant level, Kjetil is for me a man to go to, says Braathen, and states:

– What Kjetil means to the team is knowledge and experience and security in a leader. That he is not with the team anymore this season is not very favorable, he sighs before this weekend’s World Cup race in French Val-d’Isère.

Ten Norwegian alpinists to France and Switzerland – Kilde drops world cup race

Ten Norwegian alpinists are going to France and Switzerland to fight for the top places in the World Cup next weekend. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is not included.

Source delivered the goods in Beaver Creek last weekend, where he went to the top both in super-G and downhill. Now it is clear that he is dropping the upcoming giant slalom races in French Val d’Isère.

He will rather spend the time preparing for the speed races in Val Gardena the following week.

In the French Val d’Isère, the men’s alpinists will run giant slalom and downhill. Lucas Braathen and Atle Lie McGrath, who had much of last season ruined by knee injuries, are among the athletes in the selection.

Ragnhild Mowinckel is the only Norwegian woman who is going to St. Moritz, Switzerland to drive super-G.
