Korea cruises on the first day of the Youth with the Disabled… Badminton and Boccia individual wins


(Seoul = News 1) Reporter Jo Jae-hyun = Korea started off smoothly on the first day of the 2021 Asian Youth Games with Disabilities in Bahrain.

The competition started with the opening ceremony at the Bahrain International Circuit on the 2nd (local time) and continued for 5 days until the 6th.

Athletes from 30 countries participated in a total of 9 sports, and Korea dispatched 78 athletes to 8 sports.

On the first day, Korea competed in goalball, badminton and boccia. Jonathan (sports grade SL4), Kang Doo-hyeon, Lee Jung-su, and Ji Sang-hoon (SU5 above), who participated in the men’s singles qualifier for badminton standing, all won.

Jonathan, Kang Doo-hyeon, and Lee Jeong-soo beat Avicari Prakasi (India), Tagal Santoso (Indonesia) and Tokimasa Nara (Japan) with set scores, respectively, 2-0. Ji-Hoon Ji defeated Karan Panir (Indonesia) 2-1.

Boccia also excelled. Minkyu Seo (BC2) beat Iman Sapuripram (Malaysia) 4-2. Sion Jeong (BC3) also defeated Aloisius Gan (Singapore) 4-3.

Goalball men’s team won Iraq with a set score of 11-8. On the other hand, the women’s team lost 7-8 to Thailand.
