‘Korea Badminton Sponsorship’ Yonex Korea wins Mecenat Award for 2 consecutive years

Companies that provided strong support for Korean sports this year received meaningful awards. Won the Dongseung Trade Award (Yonex Korea), a Korean badminton sponsor, for the second year in a row.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the ‘2nd Korea Sports Mecenat Awards Ceremony’ at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul on the 8th along with the Korea Sports Association and the Korea Sports Association for the Disabled. It started last year as an event to express gratitude and encouragement to the presidents and sponsors of member sports groups who contributed to the development of sports. On this day, Minister Hwang Hee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Lee Ki-heung, president of the Sports Association, Yang Chung-yeon, secretary-general of the Sports for the Disabled, and award winners by field were in attendance.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Sports Association for the Disabled, and the Sports Association for the Disabled selected 8 companies through group recommendations and screening. Lotte Group, the chairman of the Korea Ski Association, SK Telecom, the chairman of the Korea Fencing Association, and Changsung Group, the chairman of the Korea Federation of Disabled Nordic Skiers, received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism commendation. In addition, Evest Investment & Securities, a sponsor of the Korea Billiards Federation, LG, a sponsor of the Korea Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation, Youngone Outdoor, a sponsor of the Korea Mountain Federation, and Descente Korea, a sponsor of the Korea Ski Association and Korea Athletics Federation, received the commendation from the Korea Sports Council.

This year, the physical education division for the disabled was newly established. Dongseung Tongsang Co., Ltd. (Yonex Korea), a sponsor of the Korean Badminton Association for the Disabled, received a commendation from the President of the Korean Disabled Sports Association.

Yonex Korea, the first official sponsor of badminton for the disabled in Korea, has been supporting the National Disabled Badminton Tournament since its establishment in 1995. It also sponsored the 2017 Ulsan Para Badminton World Championships.

It has been awarded for two consecutive years until the ‘1st Korea Sports Mecenat Awards’ last year. Last year, as a sponsor of the Korea Badminton Association, Yonex Korea was awarded the Korea Sports Council Award for its contribution to the development of badminton in Korea for over 40 years.

Kim Cheol-woong, CEO of Dongseung Trading, said, “Sports is like a vital energy source that gives health and pleasure to the disabled. I think it is the result of hard work with the Badminton Association for the Disabled, and I am very moved.” He continued, “We need active support and encouragement so that people with disabilities, who are inevitably the socially disadvantaged, can enjoy a healthy life to the fullest through sports,” he said. .
