Julio Urías, the best left-handed pitcher of the 2021 GL season

MEXICO CITY, December 2 (EL UNIVERSAL) .- The Mexican Julio Urías continues to reap awards, records and achievements in the Major Leagues. This time he was recognized with the Warren Spahn 2021 award, for the best left-handed pitcher in the majors.

The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher was the recipient of this award for his number of wins, strikeouts and percentage of runs allowed in the 2021 season, in which the Angelenos fell one step away from the World Series.

The “Culichi” finished as the leader of victories (20-3) in the Major Leagues, with a percentage of 2.96 earned runs allowed, 8th in the MLB and 1.02 percentage of walks and hits made per inning (WHIP for its acronym in English).

This award comes after finishing seventh in the Cy Young voting in the National League, with just three votes as the fifth best pitcher.

This recognition is the second received by the Sinaloan this season. The other came from being named to Major League Baseball’s second all-star team, just behind Japan’s Shohei Ohtani.
