Judo Bu-Sen Luino, a special day with the Paralympic champion Roberto Lachin

Friday, December 3 fell there International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the Judo Bu-Sen Luino lived this anniversary with an almost surprise meeting, organized in a few days thanks to Cristina Dedè, with Roberto China, athlete of the national judo team, Paralympic black belt and twice bronze medal at the Italian championships climbed on the mat to teach the boys of the Luinese team.

Lachin – as told by the Bu-Sen master Leo Marano – lives in Mestre and works as a switchboard operator at the Venice Casino, is blind, travels alone with his dog and “His life is a story”. He was born in Padua on October 26, 1979 and at 9 he was diagnosed with one retinitis pigmentosa which led to complete loss of sight in 2004. His childhood was difficult, during which he often stayed at home for fear of getting hurt and more, with friends who drifted away and excluded him. Despite the worsening of the disease, forced to learn new study methods, he graduated in Oriental Languages ​​and Civilization with a specialization in Japanese Literature. His passion drives him to listen to an average of 50 audio-books a year. After university, Lachin got married and had a son and one day, just as he was accompanying the boy to his first karate class in Mestre, after giving the command to his guide dog for the toilet, he came across a local judo instructor who invited him to try it out. From that day on he fell in love with the discipline to the point of deciding to train as an agonist in order to compete and, once he won his first competition, he never stopped.

Rejected in all other sports, through judo, the Venetian athlete has set himself the goal of stimulating everyone with his example, thanks also to his “MOTTO podcast”, a podcast broadcast – precisely – in which he interviewed blind people from all over the world and who have been very successful thanks to the diversity of the topics covered and the professionalism of the people involved.

On the Luinese mat the boys of the judo Bu-Sen, blindfolded, carried out a training session of an hour and a half with him, moving and performing the exercises through the perception of the voice and noises. On this beautiful evening Roberto Lachin was supported by Elena Travaini from Luino, a visually impaired professional dancer and creator, together with her husband, of the Blindly dancing method: “It is the friendship with Roberto, whom I met more than a year ago, which allowed us to organize a special training – comments the master Marano – And to these two nice people of course it adds up Andrea Gozzi, black belt with Down syndrome and ‘cuddly’ of Bu-Sen Luino for more than twenty years. Let’s learn from them! And thanks to all three ”.

In conclusion, the teacher makes a small mention of Italian Championships Beginners held on 13 and 14 November last, in which they took part Sara Stivoni and Nicola Destefano: “It is right to remember that you can’t always win, Nicola only won one match and Sara came out first. They weren’t recovered, but both gave their all and were competitive. It remains a good experience to grow “.
