Joshua Zirkzee and Sporting d’Anderlecht will be sorely missed by Christian Kouamé

We knew the flamboyant attack duo of Union Saint-Gilloise Dante vanzeirDeniz Undav, it is now another pair that terrorizes the defenses of the Pro League. And this duo comes from Sporting Anderlecht! With a total of 7 goals and 4 assists in the last nine meetings, the connection Christian Kouame (5 buts) – Joshua Zirkzee (2 goals and 4 assists) is wreaking havoc. A duo which will nevertheless have to separate in the coming weeks, Kouamé having been retained by the coach of Côte d’Ivoire Patrice Beaumelle to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place from January 9 to February 6 in Cameroon.

For the ninth time in a row, Vincent kompany Kouamé and Zirkzee immediately lined up at the forefront of the attack against Kortrijk on Thursday evening. And once again, the duo were decisive. Double scorer and served by the Dutchman on the first goal, Kouamé propelled Sporting to the semi-finals of the Belgian Cup (3-0). It is no coincidence that Anderlecht is doing better in recent weeks. Since these two players started side by side, the Mauves have had a series of good performances (5 wins, 3 shares and 1 defeat in all competitions): “It is by playing together that automatisms are created. But with Raman it’s the same, we look for each other all the time“, declared the Ivorian after victory at the microphone of our journalist Manuel Jous.

This is the real Christian Kouamé now

More discreet on his arrival, the Ivorian striker is now in full possession of his means: “At first I was not 100%. Now I feel good. I find the sensations I had before my knee injury. This is the real Christian Kouamé now. I get to go deeper, I play better and it gives me more confidence“.

Anderlecht coach Vincent Kompany will therefore have to find a solution to remedy the absence of Kouamé, who will play one last match with the Mauves (at the Beerschot) before joining his selection. A small glitch which does not seem to bother the ex-captain of the Red Devils: “I’m happy for him, he’s going to represent his country and also our colors. We will have to do without him but I am confident because we have more than eleven players in the core. CAN needs the best players to show everyone the quality there is on the African continent“.
