Jorrit de Ruiter: irresponsible competition during evening lockdown

Sport

Meet Dyon van Wijlick!

Actually, I only come to one conclusion and that is that this is a very short-sighted and irresponsible decision.

On the one hand, because we practice a very explosive sport, in which you have to twist, turn, turn, jump and which puts a huge load on all your muscle groups, ligaments and tendons. Training is necessary to be and remain in the necessary condition. Due to the new corona measures, this is no longer possible for 95% of working Netherlands, who often have their badminton training sessions in the evenings.

In addition, we have a joint responsibility to reduce the sky-high corona figures for weeks. You do this, among other things, by limiting travel movements and keeping your distance. Badminton Netherlands could take a social responsibility in this, but apparently looks the other way.

A decent middle finger to the already overflowing care.

Do hospital emergency departments now have to deal with many more sports injuries?

Do not get me wrong. Exercise is very good for physical and mental health, but only if it can be facilitated properly. In this way, that is really not the case and I urge you to reconsider this decision!
