Italian Brignone won a shortened super-G in St. Moritz

Czech star Ester Ledecká, who was thirteenth in the first super-G season in Lake Louise, did not start in St. Moritz because she is preparing for snowboarding races.

Thirty-one-year-old Brignone has become the most successful Italian with seventeen World Cup wins. She defeated Deborah Compagnon by one victory.

The winner of Saturday’s race, the Swiss Lara Gutová-Behrami, was one of the fastest in the first split, but she did not manage the most difficult gate on the track and flew through the safety nets. However, the reigning world champion eventually went down to the finish line on the ski to enthusiastic fans.

The Women’s World Cup will continue next week with a downhill and super-giant slalom at the French resort of Val d’Isere.
