This past weekend, the Estella Badminton Club sent players of various categories to compete in two tournaments, held in the towns of Santa Eulalia Des Ríu (Balearic Islands) and Alfajarín (Zaragoza).

During the days 10, 11 and 12 December, the Championship of Spain Wanted Champion (Sub13) was played in the Ibiza town of Santa Eulalia Des Ríu, where a total of 88 players attended, and in which the best national rackets of the category they fought for the titles of national champions of each one of the modalities in game.

The players of the Badminton Club Estella, Irati Baquedano and Noa Vidán attended this town. The most outstanding result was obtained by both players in the women’s Doubles modality, achieving a very worthy fifth position, and they were about to go to the semifinals, after playing a very good match in the quarterfinals, in which they fell by a score of 21 -16 and 23-21.

On the other hand, in the town of Alfajarín, a Sub11, Sub13, Sub15, Sub17 and Sub19 Ranqueable Territorial Tournament was held. The Estella Badminton Club players traveled to this town: Ane de Antonio, Teo Fernández, Iván Berné, Sofía Villar, Iradi Ondarra, Mateo Andueza, Unai Ataun, Pablo Urzainqui, Liam Rada, Ibai Garcés, Egoi Echeverría, Aimar Garín, Amaia Maeztu, Mikel Martínez de Estívariz, Nerea García, Irene Jiménez, Sara Vicente, Andrea Villar, Eider Yanquing Peláez, Paula Echarri, Leire De Antonio, Paula Fernández, Javier Martínez de Olcoz, Iñigo Echarri and Ángel Aramendía.

The most outstanding results were: Sofía Villar and Iván Berné (champions in U13 mixed Doubles), Aimar Garín and Mikel Martínez de Estívariz (champions in U15 men’s Doubles), Aimar Garín (sub15 men’s singles runner-up), Irene Jiménez and Ibai Garcés ( Runners-up in U15 Mixed Doubles), Leire De Antonio and Paula Fernández (runners-up in U17 Women’s Doubles), Ángel Aramendía and Iñigo Echarri (U19 Men’s Doubles runner-up), and third places achieved by: Iradi Ondarra and Sofía Villar (in Women’s Doubles U13), Nerea García and Egoi Echeverría (in U15 mixed Doubles), Liam Rada and Pablo Urzainqui (in U15 men’s Doubles), Paula Echarri and Eider Yanquing Peláez (in U17 women’s Doubles), Leire De Antonio and Paula Fernández (both in Singles Women’s U17), Iñigo Echarri (in Men’s U19 Singles), and Javier Martínez de Olcoz and Héctor Ingalaturre, from the Alfajarín Badminton Club (in Men’s U19 Doubles).

The next appointment of the Estella Badminton Club will be on December 18 and 19, dates on which the National Senior Circuit will be played in the town of Cerdanyola del Vallés (Catalonia).
