With a view to starting the new Olympic cycle towards Paris 2024, the International Judo Federation (IJF) announced changes to its competition regulations, in order to make the martial art more dynamic and attractive.

It also notes that the Chief Sports Director of the IJF, Vladimir Barta, commented:

“We have received proposals and recommendations from the national federations for amendments and changes to the rules. The IJF is working hard to modernize our beloved sport with input from its partners. These new rules will take effect from the beginning of 2022, valid until 2024.

The principle of the rules is to protect athletes and the sport as a whole, while promoting judo to be more dynamic, more attractive to the public and the media ”.
