“If you don’t want that, you can hand in your contract at my office”

23 december 2021 – It is restless at VVV-Venlo. Part of the A-selection has turned against head coach Jos Luhukay, but they are at the wrong address at the Eerste Divisie club. VVV director Marco Bogers has lashed out at the rebellious players.

Opposite L1 Radio Bogers was asked about the unrest that would be in the VVV-Venlo player group. According to newspaper The Limburger some of the players would no longer be interested in the coach (‘part of the player group and staff diametrically opposed to trainer Luhukay’), who himself indicated that he had not heard anything from the selection yet. In any case, Bogers did not want to know anything about the disgruntled players and kept his faith in the coach, who himself had questioned his position.

“I stood in front of the group and said that we as board fully support trainer Jos Luhukay,” he said. In fact, they are not done with the leaking players yet. “We are investigating where the unrest is and we are going to take measures. I find expressing dissatisfaction against the press reprehensible, of a particularly low level. We are in a process of change, in a culture shift. If there are people who do not want to participate, we will not hesitate to take action.”

Although Bogers also states that the results with twelfth place are disappointing for the time being (‘big unsatisfactory’), confidence in Luhukay is fully present. “Players at VVV should be grateful that they can work with a trainer who has been so successful in Germany,” said Bogers, who calls on the players. “We are stable. Take your responsibility. If you don’t want that, you can hand in your contract at my office.”
