When it comes to Roger Federer, Diego Schwartzman raves. The Argentine wants to postpone the end of the 40-year-old tennis legend’s career for as long as possible.

Roger Federer was recently voted “Fan’s Favorite” on the ATP Tour for the 19th time. Diego Schwartzman is also very popular with tennis fans. The little Argentine played his way into the tennis elite from a poor background and despite unfavorable physical conditions. The all-rounder with the big fighter heart is now number 13 in the world rankings.

In an interview with ESPN, Schwartzman himself raved about a colleague. The 29-year-old is an avowed supporter of Roger Federer. He lost all four duels against the Swiss, who should make his comeback sometime in 2022 after a long injury break.

“On the pitch, it makes you feel like you have no idea how to play like that. I’ve had moments in my matches with him when I felt like I was playing well and had options. But it seemed as if he was bored and would defeat me whenever he wanted, ”Schwartzman explains his negative series against the 20-time Grand Slam winner. “He’s the one with the most varied tennis in all of history,” he concluded.

But the most important thing is its human qualities. «Roger’s a gentleman. He’s perfect on the pitch, but he’s even more perfect off the pitch, ”says the 29-year-old from Buenos Aires. When you see Federer in the cloakroom joking with everyone, that’s impressive, says Schwartzman. “I hope he never retires”. He also has an idea how you can admire him even longer: “If necessary, let him play in a suit!”
